Millstreet Country Park

Millstreet Country Park (35 minutes drive from Mountain View B&B) is a stunning 500 acre country park set against the backdrop of the Musheramore Mountains & home to a managed herds of Red Deer. Dogs are now allowed on leads in certain areas of the park.

Here you can find true wilderness: cascading waterfalls, rippling streams & lakes which are home to brown trout & salmon (guests are welcome to borrow our season ticket which allows fishing) & you might just be lucky enough to glimpse an otter. Hares are often seen as are Raven, Merlin, Hen Harrier & a variety of smaller birds. In the summer months beautiful dragonflies & damselflies hunt over the pools.

Explore wildflower meadows, peat bogs & heather clad mountain sides as well as beautifully landscaped gardens, historical trails, a stone circle, a recreated Shepherds hut, a Fulacht Fia (ancient cooking pit), a wishing well & an island Crannog. Chldren & adults can play shuffleboards & giant chess/draughts.

A little bus runs every hour or so from the Visitor Centre & takes you around the higher reaches of park to visit some of the more remote exhibits or you are free to wander around on foot. After your exertions why not relax with a cup of tea on the lawn overlooking the lakes or enjoy a meal in the superb licenced restaurant which serves a choice of dishes including venison & locally smoked salmon.
