Killarney National Park

The famous town of Killarney is approximately 35 miles from Newmarket, with the breathtaking Ring of Kerry beyond.

The town itself is very picturesque. St Mary's Cathedral in the centre is breathtaking. Ross Castle overlooks Lough Leane, you can take a boat trip around the lake from the jetty at the castle.

If you wish you can hire a horse drawn carriage (called a jaunting car) from various locations to take you to the surrounding visitor attractions. Why not stop off at Torc Waterfall (free entry) or Muckross House where you can stop & wander through the stunning gardens & lakeside trails. Maybe you will glimpse on of the native Red Deer? There is a fine restaurant serving food all day & also a superb gift shop too.

In the summer months Muckross Traditional Working Farms are open to the public with old cottages, bread making, farm equipment, milking & ploughing demonstrations re-creating farming life from years gone by. Stroke the ponies & goats or visit the Blacksmith & watch him make horse shoes.

As you can see there is a wide variety of activities to do in the area. In fact you're bound to want to stay for a number of days, in order to fit it all in. In Killarney you'll find a great range of places to stay, some will be like the
Britannia Hotel Manchester you may have stayed in before and others are humble B&B's. Wherever you want to stay, don't miss out on seeing the area, so make sure you book up early.
